Founded in 2016 with a single team, Limerick Blasters now field four sides across the Munster leagues. This is our story, and the people behind it.
Limerick Blasters Cricket Club began in 2016, when a small group of enthusiasts registered a single team with Munster Cricket. By 2019 the club had taken the name Limerick Blasters, formed a second side, and earned promotion to Division 1.
In 2022 we opened our own home ground, Croker's Oval in Ballyneety, and the club has kept growing ever since. Today we field four teams across Divisions 1 to 4 of the Munster leagues, alongside a packed calendar of tennis ball tournaments including our own Blasters Cup.
Every season has added a chapter. These are the milestones that built the club.
The first team is formed and registered with Munster Cricket, playing out of Ballyeghan, and finishes third in Division 2 at the first attempt.
Runners-up in both the league and the Minor Cup. Close, but the breakthrough is still to come.
The breakthrough season. Champions of Division 2 in both the league and the T20.
Division 2 League and T20 ChampionsThe club takes its new name, forms a second team, and earns promotion to the top division.
Promoted to Division 1Runners-up in both the Division 1 league and the T20, firmly established at the top level.
A defining year. The club opens its own home ground in Ballyneety, forms a third team, and the new side wins the Division 4 double at the first attempt.
